CEIS Ayrshire recently hosted a delegation from Slovakia, as part of an ERASMUS + programme they are involved in. The programme is called the Job Interview Simulator and the project partners are EPIC Slovakia, CEIS Ayrshire, GRUPO EQ5, Spain and Epic Assist Charity, a branch of Epic Employment Services in Australia.
One aim of the programme is to strengthen the capacities of workers with youth in the area of youth employment (with emphasis on young people with lack of opportunities), to train 10 workers with youth in area of youth employment and to create specialised programmes for youth employment directly at employers and to network the youth and employers.
As part of the programme, CEIS Ayrshire hosted a party of 15 from EPIC Slovakia, including the 10 youth workers. CEIS Ayrshire staff delivered two days training, covering various aspects of the employability training that they provide in Ayrshire.
The group from Slovakia complemented their training with trips to the Ship Inn in Irvine and a walk round the harbour, to see the sea, as they are from a landlocked country. The visit was rounded off with a shopping trip to Glasgow and sightseeing in Edinburgh.
Since the partnership meetings, the Job Interview Simulator has been introduced which aims to prepare students for job interviews, employers requirements and information on the current labour market, 348 young people have benefitted from the programme. In addition, an electronic version of the training was made available via YouTube which has gained 30,000 views altogether.
